About Alana:

To say that children are my passion is an understatement; working with children and seeing the spark in their eye for new experiences and creative discovery literally gives me life. My background in the fields of education and social work have allowed me to foster a deep passion for understanding behavior as communication and promoting truly developmentally appropriate practices for young children. My experience and knowledge of early intervention, the impact of trauma on development, mental health issues, and relationship-based models of guiding the behavior of young children encompass a whole-child approach to development and learning.

My experience working with children is not only professional, but it is quite personal too. I am a proud mama to two little boys-- a 6-year-old, Carson and a 3-year-old, Ryder. My boys fill my heart with so much love and joy; they've taught me so much about not only myself and my views of early childhood education, but they've taught me how to see things through the eyes of a child and develop genuine understanding and compassion for their little minds and hearts. Ryder has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, level 2. He has opened my eyes to so many important pieces of childhood development and has further led me to foster a deep appreciation of individual differences and the power of nurturing relationships.
